One increasingly concerning example of a hoax/scam I’ve seen going around is scammers using AI to recreate the voice of a family members and calling loved ones with this fake voice pretending to be kidnapped and asking for ransom in exchange for their loved one’s life. Even worse, these scammers are able to make calls which look like they’re coming from that loved ones number which is even more terrifying. This scam is extremely scary and cruel. The purpose of a scam like this is to get large sums of money from people using emotional manipulation. Additionally, just as a personal guess I assume they use this method because if the person on the other line truly believes a loved one is in danger they would send money without any problems or putting up a fight. One way you can check to see if these scam calls are real is by calling or texting the loved one they are pretending to be to confirm there whereabouts or if they’re safe.

Not another one!! Another common example folks, a good rule of thumb is to never click links from anyone you do not know!

I was in high school when my friend came up to me wondering why I was asking for $20. Obviously I was confused because I never asked for money until my friend had a phone call that sounded like me? I got the shudders and told him to ignore it because I would NEVER ask money just like that! These are deceptive, frightening times…
