The Prompts I used to create the alternate version of my resume was “Rewrite and restructure my resume so it is tailored for an entry-level Data Analyst position. Emphasize analytical thinking, quantitative skills, problem-solving, documentation, communication, and any experience related to process improvement or data organization. Highlight transferable skills from customer service, leadership, and volunteer roles. Strengthen bullet points with action verbs and results when possible. Keep everything truthful to my background”. What changed between my original resume and the alternate resume was my experience and skills was now much more relevant to the role of a data analyst and was described in a way that made it my resume seem very tailored for the job. What I learned about prompt engineering and tailoring content was how useful and powerful it could be in working towards your goals. Before the help of AI on my resume it seemed very basic and all the skills I listed were very surface level even though they could’ve been described in a more meaningful way the whole time. The prompt helped it look for different perspectives on my experience and skills to make it more appealing to someone looking to hire in the field I am after.
